Northeast Water Purification Plant; City of Houston, Texas

Five Companies is working with PLW Waterworks to install 121,000 LF of water line, including large diameter water lines from 84” to 120”. Sequencing of Five Companies’ work will be crucial to ensure the program remains on schedule. The firm intends to have Phase I Yard Piping constructed through 2020 and Phase 2 constructed through 2021 to early 2022.

 

About the NEWPP:

Currently the nation’s largest progressive design-build water plant project, the City of Houston’s Northeast Water Purification Plant (NEWPP) expansion project consists of two design-build phases to expand the plant’s capacity from 80 million gallons per day (MGD) to 400 MGD by 2024. The expansion project, valued at $1.8 billion, will help the City and water authorities meet water demands, and fulfill requirements by the Harris-Galveston and Fort Bend Subsidence Districts that restrict groundwater usage.

The four partner agencies involved in the project include: North Harris County Regional Water Authority, Central Harris County Regional Water Authority, West Harris County Regional Water Authority and North Fort Bend Water Authority.
