Five Companies Selected by City of Houston to Construct Second 108-inch Water Line

Five Companies is the apparent Selected Proposer for the City of Houston’s 108-inch water line project from Willis Street to Imperial Valley Drive will begin in October and is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2022.

“We are extremely excited to continue to work with the City of Houston on the Northeast Transmission Water Line (NETL),” stated Brian Manning, Five Companies’ Principal. “This award is representative of our strategy to pursue CSP water contracts and enables us to add value using our combined local engineering and construction capabilities.”

This project is an anticipated portion of the City’s Surface Water Transmission Program (SWTP), which consists of major improvements to the water transmission system to convert from primarily groundwater to surface water to comply with the Harris-Galveston Coastal Subsidence District’s (HGCSD) regulatory plan. This program includes transmission and distribution of surface water and associated consolidation of groundwater plants in the City.

The work of the contract is primarily for construction of the 108-inch water line by combination of open-cut and tunneling construction methods, including installation of valves, connections and appurtenances.
