Mark L. Boyer Receives Award as MVP of Underground Infrastructure Industry at UIC Conference

Five Companies’ Principal and CEO of Boyer, Inc. Mark L. Boyer was formally honored as the Most Valuable Professional of the underground infrastructure industry on Tuesday in conjunction with the annual Underground Infrastructure Conference (UIC) in Houston. The annual award was presented by Russ Ford of LAN and Robert Carpenter of Underground Infrastructure magazine and was co-sponsored by the Underground Construction Technology Association (UCTA) and Underground Infrastructure magazine.

“Mark is a true visionary,” noted Russ Ford. “Look at the creation of Five Companies. As a history buff, Mark knew the story of the companies that came together to bid on the Hoover Dam construction contract. No single company could handle a project of that magnitude, so six joined to complete it as one. He knew that would work for the larger projects in the Houston area, and with this ingenuity and creativity, Five Companies was born.”

Mark brought his entire team from Boyer, Inc. to the awards luncheon to acknowledge the people behind his success. Team members from Five Companies were also there to celebrate him. Along with thanking his family, employees, partners, long-time supporters and mentors, Mark left the audience with a note he felt was critical to his achievements: “Every job we start, we finish.” And those who know Mark know he means it.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the Underground Infrastructure Conference (UIC) returned to Houston to convene professionals in the sewer, water, wastewater, gas, electric, telecommunications, corrosion, and protective coating industries. The conference will run through Thursday, March 6 at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
